The region’s biggest holiday spectacle in a generation, the inaugural Niagara Holiday Market will be a 37-day winter wonderland in Niagara Falls, New York; opening on Friday, November 25 and running through New Year’s Day 2012. The Market is aiming to be on par with the memorable shopping destinations of Europe’s Christkindlmarkets and retail arcades.
Local, regional and national retailers such as Melissa & Doug, Tony Walker & Co. and Biscoff Gourmet have joined Merchant Row on Old Falls Street, while over 20 independent artisans will showcase and sell their wares through the traditionally online community marketplace, Etsy Studio, as it comes to life in a workshop-style space.
World-renowned musical talent will headline the Holiday Concert Series with the Canadian Tenors kicking off their Holiday Concert Tour on November 26 at the Conference Center Niagara Falls, followed by Aaron Neville on December 1, Elisabeth Von Trapp on December 6-7 and the Buffalo Philharmonic’s “A Visit With St. Nick” on December 17. All concerts will be held at the Conference Center Niagara Falls on Old Falls Street, with tickets available at www.niagaramarket.com.
Search is on for unique merchants, craftspeople to create WNY’s most dynamic holiday shopping experience
With a goal of replicating the memorable shopping destinations of Europe’s Christkindlmarkets and retail arcades, the Niagara Holiday Market today announced an open call and invitation for vendors and artisans for its spectacular, 37-day winter wonderland in Niagara Falls, NY this November and December.
“We’re on a grand treasure hunt to find and recruit the most distinctive and inspired merchants for the holidays,” related Mark Rivers, the event organizer. “This is not a carnival or a weekend street festival with funnel cakes. It is a world-class Market and event that is already attracting the very best retailers and artisans from the region and beyond. We expect to sell-out this opportunity for vendors.”
A Vendor Row will be created along Old Falls Street, from 3rd
AvenueStreet to the State Park. It will feature approximately 80 vendors with a diverse merchandise selection including: apparel, footwear, one-of-a-kind household items, handcrafted gifts, photography, visual art, children’s items, specialty foods and more. The items will be sold in a series of constructed booths, structures and buildings.
The Niagara Holiday Market, making its debut on November 25, will be the largest European-style holiday market and festival in the US. It will operate for 37 days thru January 1, 2012 along historic Old Falls Street in the Cataract City, and will be home to unique retail vendors, ice skating, winter outdoor activities, concerts, performances and family experiences.
Interested vendors can find information and apply via www.niagaramarket.com. The deadline for application is October 15, 2011.
